Happy Halloween from County Clare!
So many people ask me if we celebrate Halloween here in Ireland... Guess what? Halloween originated here from the Celtic celebration called Samhain (pronounced "SOW-in").
It originally was an end of Summer, start of Winter festival involving bonfires to ward off evil spirits and turnips carved out and lit from the embers of the fires to place in the homes for spiritual protection.
We've been getting some heavy frosts at night here in County Clare, so Winter weather truly is coming our way. We haven't had any snow yet, though!
November is going to be a big month with lots of holiday discounts and special prices in my MoodsOfIreland.Com Irish Gift Shop.
